Wire Rope Maintenance, Care & Inspection Guide

01
Operation Guideline
During operation, wire ropes should always run at a steady and controlled speed. Overloading must be strictly avoided, as well as sudden shock loading, as these can significantly reduce rope life and safety performance.
02
Maintenance
Over time dirt, dust, and other contaminants may adhere to the rope surface, increasing friction and causing wear between the rope and sheaves.

To ensure optimal performance:
-
Clean the wire rope regularly
Proper maintenance helps prevent corrosion, reduces abrasion, and extends service life.

03
Lubrication
Wire ropes are factory-lubricated during manufacturing; however, this lubrication gradually wears off during service.
To ensure optimal performance:
-
Clean the wire rope regularly
-
Reapply suitable lubricant periodically
-
Ensure lubrication reaches both outer wires and internal strands
Proper maintenance helps prevent corrosion, reduces abrasion, and extends service life.
04
Inspection & Record Keeping
Wire ropes must be inspected at regular intervals, and all inspection results should be properly recorded.
Key inspection points include:
-
Surface wear and abrasion
-
Broken wire condition (external and internal)
-
Corrosion or rust development
-
Condition of sheaves, grooves, hooks, and lifting accessories
-
Rope termination points (end fittings and sockets)
-
Rope sections passing over drums and pulley blocks
Special attention should be given to high-stress areas such as rope ends and sections that frequently bend or pass through sheaves.
